His marketing strategies and ability to build successful brands has made him a highly influential consultant and motivational speaker today. John is also an author of 5 best-selling books including his New York Times best-selling books, The Power of Broke (2016) and Rise and Grind (2018). Mauro brings over 18 years of extensive experience and expertise in the food industry, particularly in strategic growth, brand development, and partnership building. Currently serving as the Chief Growth Officer for Anita’s Mexican Foods and La Reina, Mauro oversees the strategic direction of the company, focusing on identifying and cultivating partnerships within the co-packing and private label Better-for-You and Craft snack category. His role involves collaboration with industry-leading brands from inception to scale, leveraging strategic acquisitions and handoffs to larger CPG companies.

Throughout his career, Mauro has held pivotal roles in 6 different companies, managing a diverse portfolio of 16 brands across 8 categories. Notably, he has demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by spearheading the launch and expansion of companies, ranging from startups to nine-figure revenue-generating brands. Before rejoining Anita’s, Mauro served as the VP of West Grocery, Natural, and Ethnic for Utz Brands, where he oversaw prominent brands like Boulder Canyon, Good Health, Herdez, Zapps, Hawaiian, and Tims Cascade, strategically positioning them in the Natural Channel, and Western US markets.
